Clive Bengtsson is Volvo's oldest crash test dummy, which probably makes him the oldest dummy in the world. He lives in Hisingen, Sweden and has always lived in the area near the Volvo Car Corporation in Gothenburg.
He has been working at the Volvo Safety Center since 1964, making him somewhat of an expert when it comes to traffic safety.
Clive is a middle-aged bachelor and the Number One Safety Representative at the Safety Center. He not only crash tests products at the Safety Center, but he is also a consultant at many different departments within the Volvo Corporation. For example, Clive can often be seen lending a helping hand in the Design Department, providing new ideas for keeping Volvos both safe and beautiful.
Rather than calling himself the negative & common 'Dummy', Clive prefers the more flattering term of 'Pain Researcher.' If he's within earshot, don't call him crash test dummy!
He also can be a bit irritated with the "younger" crash test dummies, as he considers their jobs nowadays to be quite cool and easy in comparison to how he had it when he was a youngster. He comes back to this matter now and then, but still thinks that development on the whole is heading in a positive direction.
Some consider Clive to be a bit annoying outside of work. He doesn't understand that not everyone is as interested in safety as he is, all of the time. Aside from some attitude, Clive is a warm person who wants to protect the world!Â
